This small garden required a multifunctional outdoor space, for both entertaining and relaxation. At the heart of the design is a custom-built timber seat that doubles as a daybed, offering the perfect spot to unwind, read, or nap while immersing yourself in the garden's tranquil surroundings. The seat’s warm timber finish complements the lush, green planting around it, softening the edges of the existing deck and pergola, and creating a seamless flow between built structures and nature.
Bluestone steppers are used over solid paving, creating an inviting, textured surface that leads visitors through the garden. Between these steppers native violet ground covers adds a natural, low-maintenance aesthetic.
Lush greenery surrounds the space, with a mix of evergreen and seasonal plants that provide year-round visual interest and texture. The combination of climbers up the boundary walls, tree canopies overhead and the soft, layered understorey, enhancing the natural atmosphere while still providing privacy and a sense of enclosure.
